چکیده
On 2003 September 17 INTEGRAL discovered a bright transient source 3◦ from the Galactic Center, IGRJ17544−2619. The field containing the transient was observed by XMM-Newton on 2003 March 17 and September 11 and 17. A bright source, at a position consistent with the INTEGRAL location, was detected by the European Photon Imaging Camera (EPIC) during both September observations with mean 0.5–10 keV unabsorbed luminosities of 1.1×10 and 5.7×10 erg s for an (assumed) distance of 8 kpc. The source was not detected in 2003 March with a 0.5–10 keV luminosity of <3.8×10 erg s. The September 11 and 17 EPIC spectra can be represented by a power-law model with photon indices of 2.25±0.15 and 1.42±0.17, respectively. Thus, the 0.5–10 keV spectrum hardens with increasing intensity. The low-energy absorption during both September observations is comparable to the interstellar value. The X-ray lightcurves for both September observations show energy dependent flaring which may be modeled by changes in either low-energy absorption or power-law index.

J 17544 − 2619 : A new supergiant fast X - ray transient revealed by optical / infrared observations ⋆
One of the most recent discoveries of the INTEGRAL observatory is the existence of a previously unknown population of X-ray sources in the inner arms of the Galaxy. IGR J17544−2619, IGR J16465−4507 and XTE J1739−302 are among these sources. Although the nature of these systems is still unexplained, the investigations of the optical/NIR counterparts of the two last sources, combined with high en...
متن کاملDiscovery of the orbital period in the supergiant fast X - ray transient IGR J 17544 – 2619
The supergiant fast X-ray transient (SFXT) system IGR J17544–2619 has displayed many large outbursts in the past and is considered an archetypal example of SFXTs. A search of the INTEGRAL/ISGRI data archive from MJD 52698–54354 has revealed 11 outbursts and timing analysis of the light curve identifies a period of 4.926±0.001 days which we interpret as the orbital period of the system. We find ...
متن کاملThe supergiant fast X-ray transient IGR J18483-0311 in quiescence: XMM-Newton, Swift, and Chandra observations
IGR J18483-0311 was discovered with INTEGRAL in 2003 and later classified as a supergiant fast X-ray transient. It was observed in outburst many times, but its quiescent state is still poorly known. Here we present the results of XMM-Newton, Swift, and Chandra observations of IGR J18483-0311. These data improved the X-ray position of the source, and provided new information on the timing and sp...
متن کاملChandra observation of the fast X - ray transient IGR J 17544 - 2619
IGR J17544-2619 belongs to a distinct group of at least seven fast X-ray transients that cannot readily be associated with nearby flare stars or pre-main sequence stars and most probably are X-ray binaries with wind accretion. Sofar, the nature of the accretor has been determined in only one case (SAX J1819.3-2525/V4641 Sgr). We carried out a 20 ks Chandra ACIS-S observation of IGR J17544-2619 ...
متن کامل17252 − 3616 : an accreting pulsar observed by INTEGRAL and XMM - Newton
The discovery of the X-ray source IGR J17252−3616 by INTEGRAL was reported on 9 February 2004. Regular monitoring by INTEGRAL shows that IGR J17252−3616 is a persistent hard X-ray source with an average count rate of 0.96 counts s −1 (∼6.4 mCrab) in the 20–60 keV energy band. A follow-up observation with XMM-Newton which was performed on 21 March 21 2004, showed that the source is located at R....
